Stars shine bright

Only two seasons ago Free State Stars were courting disaster in the PSL relegation zone – now the Stars shine bright third from the top of the league after 12 matches.

Stars shot up on the league by beating Maritzburg United with 2 – 0, with Celtic hitting a bump with a goalless draw against Wits. Celtic is now in the 7th position on 16 points, 5 points adrift from Stars. SuperSport United heads the log on 28, followed by Sundowns on 25.

If Stars have ever lead Chiefs, Pirates and Ajax Cape Town after 12 matches, it could not have been very often.

Stars may even increase their lead over Celtic, as their next game is a home match against the luckless Santos, whilst Celtic has to travel to Cape Town to face Ajax.

Free Staters would hold thumbs for their Stars to hopefully edge their way even higher to the top of the league. What a day it would be should they eventually lift the Cup!
