Time to stand up
As indicated in the front page story of this edition, business confidence in the Free State is at an all-time low, posing an extraordinary challenge to every Free Stater. Things can either get worse, much worse, or it can get better-which of the two, depends a lot on everyone concerned. As such it is a time to stand up for those who have the best interest of the Free State at heart. If one believes in the principals that have stood the test of time - of good service, sound admin, honesty in money at all times, human kindness, appreciation of your own identity while respecting that of others, healthy competition, free enterprise etc. - then you have to stand up yourself for these values and be counted. Stand up for what you believe in and, if need be, fight for what is right. Now is the time the Free State needs exactly this.

Emigrasie is nie oplossing nie
Gebeure veral hierdie jaar sover noop talle Suid-Afrikaners en ook Vrystaters om te emigreer, of minstens die opsie ernstig te oorweeg. Gaan na n Westers-gesinde land waar wet, orde en vooruitgang is en maak jou kinders daar groot, is die redenasie. As teenargumente kan aangevoer word, nêrens is utopia nie en elke huis (land) het sy kruis. Belangrikste is egter die wete dat Suid-Afrika ook my land is, so gegee deur die Skepper en dat Hy dié wat op Hom vertrou nie in die steek sal laat nie. ‘n Mens moet net by Sy Woord hou. Wat Hy in Australië of waar ookal kan doen, kan Hy hier ook doen. Buitendien, hoekom moet ‘n mens weghardloop vir die leë blikke wat so raas en hoekom moet jy aan die magte van die duisternis toegee? Nee - ons plek is hier, altyd en daarvoor is ons bereid om, as dit nodig is, te veg.
